Simple Gold

DSC_0044

Simple Gold makes me think of Simple Green – ever heard of it? Any time I smell Simple Green, it makes me think of bowling. When I was little, my dad was in a bowling league. It was awesome – they had bowling shirts and everything – and my dad always used Simple Green to clean his bowling ball, along with a ball buffer, which always made me crack up because I thought it looked like giant underwear. (Full Disclosure: It made me crack up again today. Apparently, I am still 12 years old.)

Anyway, simple gold earrings. After spending some time last week practicing making ear wires, I decided it was time to actually make a pair of earrings out of them. See, in December, I made this pair in hopes of having a good every day pair in gold, but I may have worn them once. They are cute, but they just seem to stay in my earring cup, and I choose something else. I have a very simple pair of silver earrings that I wear almost every day. Surely I can make something similar in gold.

Last week, I thrifted some fun jewelry pieces to use in some upcoming projects.

I took apart the turquoise necklace. In addition to the pretty turquoise beads (to be used in a project SOON!), I found lots of “gold” pieces.

The two circles in the upper right corner were actually part of the necklace closure (wrapped in pieces of leather), but I thought they would be great hanging from some handmade ear wires.

They are already my favorites.

I love finding random pieces and giving them new life.
