Good Life

So, I completely missed posting yesterday, and I’m cutting it close today. What can I say? It’s been a good weekend so far.

We spent lots of time reading and building pillow forts Friday morning.

I started tackling my workspace Friday morning, too. I had hoped to get it organized enough on Friday to post about it. It’s MUCH bigger than a one day project (mostly because once I start decluttering one area, I have to work on 8 others). Maybe by the end of January?

A friend offered to babysit the kids Friday afternoon, so I got a little thrifting time. I scored these goodies for a project I’ve got coming up this week.

I met some friends for sushi and then wine tasting Friday night.

We worked a little more on the garage/workspace Saturday morning. If you’re a parent, do you ever feel like a huge chunk of your life is spent sorting, washing, drying, sorting, folding, sorting, purging, and sorting kids’ clothes? And all kid paraphernalia, really. I feel like my job title should be Materials Manager. This is the latest group that’s heading out the door.

Then we had dinner with friends Saturday night.

It included chocolate cake. (It included chocolate frosting, too, though not pictured.)

So, even though I haven’t really had a moment to work on a project, my time has felt purposeful. Toward the end of 2012, our family was plagued by illness followed by illness followed by yet another illness, so it’s felt like we’ve been on our own a lot. So in addition to purposefully planning time to just hang out with the kids and continually declutter, one of my goals for 2013 is to make more plans with friends. This weekend has been a great start.
